Labour Park

Yesterday I visited another one of the seeminly many parks in Dalian. It was a pretty park that stuck me as having some better features than the others I’ve been to.

Plenty of real wood fences and such, unlike the fake concrete wood fences that are so common here. They had some fake bamboo fences made of wood, which baffled me somewhat, why not just build a wood fence, why goto the effort of making it bamboo shaped. Also to be found here was a plant arrangement in the shape of the Olympic maskots as seen above, not so pretty.

What was nice though was the park had some small bird enclosures with beautiful cranes inside. From what I gather, the size for animal enclosures in China are usually small, and this was no exception. It’s a shame to keep them in such a small space, but beautiful none-the-less.

Miao was doing her usual thing of taking pictures with her new Digital SLR camera. The resultant pictures she took were very beautiful but not as sharp as she’d like. I think she’s yet to master the fixed length lense we got. I also re-affirmed that I have no natural instinct for framing pictures, and have a difficult enough time keeping the camera still.

The park also had a theme rides, like a rollercoaster and some shooting stalls. I was persuaded not to go on the rollercoaster on the promise that we’d goto the themepark in summer with Miao’s cousin. Miao I discover doesn’t like these rides, :-( I hope that when we goto Alton Tower’s she will go on some rides with me.

That’s all for now,
Alastair
