Chinese Fan Dance

Chinese Fan Dance

To set the rhythm for the Chinese fan dance exercise in the park, a band provides itself. The cymbals and drum come daily, the lady on the right maybe no so regular, but comes often, and sometimes even a guy who plays a reeded whiny instrument that is traditional, and sounds almost like an oboe, but much more Chinese. The band defines the speed of the dance, and gradually increases the speed towards the end of the practise. The shuffling old ladies [the dances looks like a shuffle to me] get faster and faster, to finally come to stand in front of the band, reasonably spread out and finishes with a crashing finale. Where they all rush in to get there stuff and go about their daily business. A woman in the band on the right saw me taking pictures and we shared a connection, so she smiled for me, which I felt was quite nice. I don’t feel the men would have appreciated it quite so much. Thankfully most of the dancers are women.

I do love the DSLR. Cannon EOS 40D. It makes an average shot into a beautiful one just by being a technological master and a nice bit of glass on the front. I think perhaps nature had a helping hand here as well. Anyway poor photographer, wonderful camera.
