Having done a test for a job interview in this building which houses some interesting artwork. The job openings have been removed and closed, because of some internal management shuffle. It’s a shame, as I would really have liked a Java Development job, but it was no sure thing anyway, as being a foreigner here, they were unsure how committed I would be to working for them, and they’d be taking a chance employing me, in case I just went home, there would be very little they could do. It seems I applied to many jobs here, with only 1 reply back, and that was only to confirm what my expected salary would be, and not a call to interview. One of my friends has a job in a HP call centre, training up staff so that they can more easily understand what somebody might actually need, so that they can dispatch the proper tech support. This seems quite a nice job, which perhaps would give me an entry into HP, with potential for a more engineering based job in the future. But it seems these are not available at the moment. I cannot believe it would be any simpler in England to get a Job now, with all the stuff going on regarding the Credit Cruch and economy. Teaching is not benefiting my career. I desperately need to develop my skills and professional career. This leads me to doing my own projects. Which, without the motivation of being paid, and in a work environment which would challenge me, proves to be quite difficult for me. I just need to get down to it.

I’ve been thinking in the exact same way as you on this. I managed to get two I.T. jobs here in Dalian, through networking. so it is possible. But opportunities are easy come easy go here – and at the moment, I’m once again looking for a job.
