Student Lesson Preparation Guide

Some preparation is expected. How much time you spend is upto you. The least expected is that you read the chapter. Here are some points that can help you improve faster:

  1. Actually sit down and read the Unit.
  2. Underline words that you don’t understand, but carry on reading.
  3. When you’ve finished reading, look up the words and write them in the text book.
  4. Many of the exercises can be done together with a friend,
    1. Good for your listening to hear others speak English
    2. Correcting others mistakes is good for your memory
    3. Your partner can correct your mistakes
    4. If your partner knows a word in Chinese, you do not need to look it up in a dictionary, and can save you time.
    5. It’s more fun to do the exercises with your friends.
  5. Try to answer the questions, even if its very quickly, and only a few words.
  6. I will usually set homework related to the assessments in class.
    1. Not usually the ones in the book
  7. If you miss a class, ask your class friends what happened and what the homework was. Please try to catch up.

What’s Bad About the Book

Learning English is very dependent on your own attitude, and creating an environment for yourself to learn. I need to understand that the book is not perfect. You need to understand that there are serious parts to learning. If we both have a positive attitude, we can really enjoy our time together as teacher and students.
