Changes

Here is a worm. His dream was becoming a dragon. But it needed several steps. First he needed to change himself into a snake, then he must take part in a competition, at which only one snake could get the chance to become a dragon. He made up his mind to do this, to make his dream come true. So he ate a lot in order to change himself into a snake, and he achieved his goal. Now everyone called him “snake”. Then he took part in the competition. But he only got the second place. He was very sad, what he could do now is to see the champion became a dragon and flew into the sky. Then he was told that the second one could choose to be a butterfly. Then he thought, “A butterfly is beautiful. That’s nice, too. ” Then he became a butterfly. But things didn’t turn out to be good. Everyone called him “fat butterfly”. Then he realized he was a loser. But now he was a butterfly, he couldn’t be a dragon any more.

So here are two endings for the story. The first one is the worm became the butterfly; he felt very regret for his choice, so he decided to be a worm again, and won another chance to be a dragon. But the new snake world didn’t want old snakes, so he was still a snake with the dragon dream until he died. The other one is that the worm became the butterfly, and he changed his mind. He used to be one of the best snakes, why couldn’t he be the best butterfly? So he began to lose weight, learned flying, competed with those “worm butterflies” who worked hard on this from childhood. And the result was that he could only be a plain butterfly, no one knew he used to dream about being a dragon, and what a good snake he used to be. So let’s just say he was a “snake butterfly”, but had nothing advantage in the butterfly world, which was always useless. All was that he lost that competition. But there still so many snakes that didn’t have the chance to be a butterfly, they could do nothing but try again. Maybe that was just because they had no choices.
