Someday there is a duck,it would’t submit to be only a duck,so it is always stretching its neck to be a swan.It didn’t expect that it could be a real swan in the future.However,the film-“The Joy Luck Club” tells four pairs of mother-daughter story.Every mother is regarded as a duck by the society where they grew up,they are not loved and disregarded.But they don’t submit this and struggle for their own destiny.At last they give their daughters dignified identity and status.They are like a duck that has stretched its neck,and give their daughers the swan’s feather,a future filled with love and dignity.

Three of the four mothers reflect the unequal treatment in the traditional China.Except they leave the land,they can’t be free.Strangely,when they come into the America society, after struggling for another life and wanting to give their daughter another destiny,but they find their daughter inherit their own past,and their daughters use another way to repeat the tragedy of life.

Hence, the mothers must give their mother the strong force and confidence through telling their own stories.The mothers want the daughters to stop going on the tragedy. In the film,there is a scene ,the mother doesn’t want to be a concubine , in order to make her own daughter know the mportance of the dignity, she eats the opium and dies on the bed quietly.She shows the resistance to the traditional society .This is very moving.

The director tells the situation of the women who are in the first half of the twentieth century,from the trouble of traditional culture to the escape of the war,it reflects the tragedy of a mother in this situation.This film stress on the relationship of mother-daughter,When you see the film,it is inevitable to make you thik about the relationship between you and your mother.Besides moving,it can make you want to tell your story about you and your mother.
