This was written by one of my students last semester and I thought it worthy of being published on my blog:

8:00p.m,August 8th,2008,this is the moment when the Beijing Olympic Games started. Since then, the Olympic fire have been flaming for sixteen days.

In the opening ceremony,the marvelous performance has left a deep impression on the whole world.

In the Beijing Olympic Games, China made a breakthrough in history. Behind the great success,all the athletes had made an attempt to achieve their goals. Tears and laughters coexisted. The improvement shows “faster, higher, and stronger”.

Olympic Games is a great chance for the world to communicate with each other, and for the diversified culture to merge. Coloured skins became prolific, and Beijing has become an international metroplis. The competition witnessed many touching phenomena. Chinese gymnastics coach helped make the American athlete champion, and Korean hockey coach led our Chinese team to win the silver medal. Indeed, Beijing Olympic Games enhanced the friendship among the world. It’s a grand gathering that carried forward the Olympic spirit and promoted world peace.

China, as far as I’m concerned, has fullfilled the promise made. Olympic spirit flourished again, this time in an oriental country with an ancient civilization. It shows the motto “New Beijing, Great Olympics”. “One world, one dream” became a reality.
