Once children start school, the teachers would have more influence in their intellectual and social development than parents. In what extent do you agree or disagree?
Parents play a significant role in their children’s lives between the day they are born and the day they go to school. However, when children begin their student life, the parents place will be increasingly replaced by the teachers. The influence from school, especially from teachers, will last through the students life. We can find truth from the following respect.
Firstly it is widely known that teachers have a tremendous influence in children’s intellectual development. Children spend all their time studying at school, especially those children whose homes are too far from school, and have to stay at school all week except weekends and holidays. What is more, they will miss activities when most students are at home, such as: playing, watching TV, or meeting friends and so on. The important thing for students at school is to learn from teachers, which will create students with remarkable intellect.
Furthermore, there is research about who will change individuals mind more easily, the results show that the people in your generation around you have the biggest influence. Children can learn how to get along with each other when they are making friends with their schoolmates, and then the behaviours among all the children are mostly conducted by teachers, for instance, we all knew that when we bollowed something from others we must say thank you for his/her help, which was taught to us when we were still pupils at primary school. Thus we can easily see that teachers’ influence greatly exceeds the parents’ in both intellect and relationships due to the long time spent with their children.
