Student Feedback Form by clarkalastair on Zooomr
This is the first time in the two years I’ve been teaching that I’ve actually received student feedback, as organised by the department in its official capacity to conduct teacher reviews. Shame it’s mainly in Chinese. Thankfully I have Miao to translate. Many people said things along the lines of “More Student Teacher Interaction”, “More Cultural Information About England”, “More Media Related Activities”, “Good Practice Making Speeches Infront of People”, ” Too Many Tests”, “Tests Were Very Good”, “Full Use of Course Book” and “Good Preparation For Band 4 Test For English Majors”. Someone even went as far as telling me to break up with my girlfriend and not go back to England.
I feel that the objectives set by my bosses have been achieved, these were two fold: Use the book, prepare the students for the TEM4 examination. I could have more interaction between myself and the students, and more student-student interaction, but this was not emphasised at the beginning of the semester.
I feel that my own objectives have been achieved. I gave students every opportunity to gain experience of making speeches, coping with the pressures of tests, and having a reasonably light and friendly environment for TEM4 preparation. Some of my lessons I’m sure were not exceedingly interesting, but I hope my classes were also not particularly boring, occupying some happy middle ground where learning occurs for the largest number of students possible in each class.
