My teaching job in China had served its purpose of giving me residency, and providing me with an environment where I could learn about Chinese culture, language and spend time with my girlfriend. I learnt a lot from teaching, and I gained confidence. Foreign teachers here in China aren’t able to progress within their jobs as there generally isn’t enough trust or recognition of ability from the local administration that they’ll be responsible and stay long enough for it to be worthwhile. Another issue was qualification, I’m not a qualified teacher, nor is it my aim to become one, my passion is very much about computers and I felt that the time was right to move home and get a job with potential to develop further.
