Scottish Sunset
Posted by Alastair in Uncategorized on March 17, 2010
In the time I’ve been back in the UK I’ve had a few trips up to Scotland for various reasons, and even though I was born in England and raised here, I feel my Scottish heritage keenly. One aspect being the accent, I think I will always love the Scottish lilt, and by that I don’t mean the rather mean sound that is the strong Glaswegian accent, I like the David Tenant or Ewan McGregor.
Another aspect being the character of the nature there, meaning the landscape, the air, the feeling of just being there. Well that may indeed by too new age, but it’s just the sense that I have. So I thank my parents for the frequent trips there in the first 18 years of my life, in order to keep a connection with not only my family history and of course my relatives but also that undefinable aspect of soul that is Scottish character. There are bad aspects of course, many people might see the Scottish as so concerned with money as being penny pinching or mean, but I think that steams from poverty than out of a mean character. In my experience Scottish people are very kind and welcoming, and I certainly felt that much more in the places I’ve been in Scotland than ever in London.
My aim here was to introduce some of my feelings about what being from a Scottish family means to me, and have an excuse to display this wonderful sunset.
