Continuing in the vein of the last post, here’s another entry about Chinese food in the UK.
While working on my work trial for Biztech, the next door down the street from them was a Chinese restaurant which did a lunchtime meal deal for £2.80. I partook of this a few times and really enjoyed their Sweet and Sour Chicken, with boiled rice and chicken and sweetcorn soup. Indeed it is just a standard Chinese Chippy, but I spoke some Mandarin to the female server, and it was quite nice to hear some real spoken Chinese again. Making them chuckle with my little mandarin turn of phrases – like asking them to give me a moment while I looked at what i wanted, and asking for chopsticks.
Anyway, If anyone is at the bottom end of King’s Road in Egremont, it’s certainly worth a try. It’s called “Oriental Chef” and the lunchtime meal is good value.
