I noticed you have some practice tests for the TEM 4 Oral English test. I have some questions abotu the test and was hoping you could answer them.
First- for Task 1: Retelling a story- are they aloud to see the story, or do they onlky hear it. Also for task 1 are they aloud to bring pen and paper and take some notes.
Second for Task 3 role playing- are the partners selected at random. Willl a bad partner effect there grade? Are they told which role to play?
Thank you for yout time,
Hannah

When I did it, it was a listening task, they weren’t allowed to see it. I read it twice, they were allowed to make their own notes and I got them to retell it to each other. Afterwards I’d one or two students to stand up and front and do it and correct them in front of the class, and finally would provide a paper copy so they can self correct. I don’t know what it’s like for the real test, I was only working off what the English department heads were telling me I was ok to do in class. As for role playing, I let the students choose their own partners, but if I was challenging them / felt they were up for it I would do it at random. A bad partner shouldn’t effect a good person’s grade, and you have to adjust for that, quite hard to do. As for which role to play, again I let them choose, but If I was being challenging I would choose for them.
Hope this helps. If there is any doubt, always choose the harder route and then it will be easier for the students to adapt to an easier situation.
